WALNUT, Calif. – Competing against the world’s top collegiate and professional athletes at the Mt. SAC Relays, the No. 8 Razorbacks shattered a school record, took down five personal records and broke into the Southeastern Conference top-times list.
In the final event of the evening for the women, Dominique Scott broke the Arkansas school record in the 5,000-meter with a time of 15:42.42. She takes down Jessica Dailey’s previous record of 15:48.89 which was also set at the Mt. SAC Relays back in 2000. Her time currently ranks No. 1 in the SEC and No. 5 in the NCAA. Grace Heymsfield recorded a personal-best performance of 16:05.96, shaving 10 seconds off of her previous record of 16:15.75 set at the 2013 SEC Championships.
A personal-best performance by Stephanie Brown in the 1,500-meter elite section earned her the top time in the NCAA and the SEC with an effort of 4:11.40. In a heat comprised of Nike-sponsored athletes and Olympians, Brown finished fifth overall behind some of the top professional athletes in the world. Her time shaved three seconds off of her personal record of 4:14.58 set at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships. In addition to owning the top time in the nation, Brown also now ranks No. 3 all-time in school history.
Thursday night on the first night of competition, Daine Robison earned the third-best time in the SEC with a 33:47.79 effort in the 10,000-meter, a personal best for the junior. The time was good for a fifth-place overall finish.
Next week, the No. 8 Razorbacks will hit the road again, splitting between the Drake Relays and Penn Relays. For more information on Razorback Track and Field, follow @RazorbackTF on Twitter.

Quotes from @RazorbackTF
Stephanie Brown on training for an elite race…
“I trained just as I would with any other race. You just have to get sharp and do what you can. Knowing the competition I would be up against, I just kept telling myself I belong, that I belong in that group of elite runners. That was my main goal – relax and remember I belonged in the race.”
Dominique Scott on a record-breaking performance in the 5K…
“Being behind on training due to missing the Stanford Invitational, none of us really knew where we stood fitness-wise. So this week was about seeing where we were, getting our feet wet and competing. We’re all very happy with the way things turned out. It was exciting to break a school record, I didn’t expect this to happen. The race was not evenly-paced, which is typically how you want a 5K to be. But my teammates, Coach Harter and Jeff Kent supported me and got me to that finish line. I’m very appreciative of that.”
